A key feature of the Amble Bord Waalk is the beautiful Northumberland coastal birds. Of course, the sweet sounds of birdsong can be heard almost anywhere in the North East of England. But is there a way that the inner qualities of these birds can be showcased and experienced through music?

Project Outcome

In the "At One With The Bords" project, students explored how to capture and express the essence of Northumberland coastal birds through music. They learned about music communication, mood management, and the field of experiential sound and sound installations. After researching the birds on the Amble Bord Waalk, students selected one bird to centre their music piece around, aiming to encapsulate its mood. They collected sounds, composed music, and applied songwriting and recording techniques to create an original track. The final piece, complete with a title and description, was added to the Amble Bords Playlist, blending nature and music.
