Project Outcome
In the "Respectful Remix" project, students explored how to respectfully collaborate with artisans and creators to design a fashion collection that honours culture, history, and overlooked voices. They learned to embrace subcultures and underrepresented communities as inspiration for creating authentic, expressive designs. The project emphasised sustainability by incorporating traditional craft techniques and eco-friendly practices like using natural inks. Students developed fashion design and illustration skills, focusing on colour, texture, pattern, and detail. They created a lineup of five outfits, either menswear or womenswear, that celebrated traditional patterns and showcased cultural influences in a respectful, sustainable way.
