This project is all about depicting your idea of calm, connection, peace and sanctuary through sound. Ultimately, it is a journey to answering the question: how can you musically connect to your sense of self?

Project Outcome

In the "Sounds of Self" project, students explored the deep connection between sound, music, and personal well-being. They examined how music evokes emotions, calm, and connection, and studied the therapeutic benefits of music, such as its impact on dementia patients. Students delved into music communication and therapy to understand the relationship between music and mental health. They mapped out personal stories of peace and sanctuary, collecting sounds and using sound design practices. The project culminated in digitally composing an original piece of music, blending songwriting, composition, and recording techniques to reflect their inner calm and self-connection.
