Light up the Dark
In a busy world, we all look for ways to slow down, take care of ourselves and find focus. Poetry has the power to inspire, change and heal and to be a light in the dark. It gives people a chance to speak their truth, to dig deep and to travel to new worlds. It can also be a source of strength and a way to say things often left unsaid.
In this project, we’ll explore the world of contemporary poetry and take inspiration from the Poetry Pharmacy and their poetry on prescription. We’ll learn how to turn our own words and ideas into messages of hope, resistance and positivity and create our own pamphlet of mood-shifting poetry as an antidote to our constantly shifting world.
You can choose to start this project in July, September, January or April.
You will be given a project start date and a project end date.
You will have 10 weeks of mentor support to complete your project.
Your project outcome will be your own mood-themed poetry pamphlet of two poems and a poetry prescription to inspire people to slow down and focus on a particular mood.
With the support of a professional writer, you be immersed into published poetry and build a writing toolkit to give you the skills you need to create your own collection of poetry to inspire feelings and mood. You’ll explore the world of contemporary poetry, meeting professional writers and students and learning more about the Poetry Pharmacy.
