TICE Live Briefs give students insight into the creative industries through structured, industry-informed projects. Each brief is developed with creative professionals and supported by FE/HE insight, helping students understand both the work and where it can lead.

Delivered as part of the TICE annual licence for schools.

    A Live Brief exploring fashion illustration through collage and mixed media.

    Students experiment with composition, texture, and visual storytelling, developing skills used across roles such as styling, design, and creative direction.

  • Students develop skills in visual storytelling, concept development, fashion illustration, trend research, creative direction, collage techniques, mixed-media experimentation, critical thinking, design communication, and reflective practice—building confidence and personal creative identity.

Echoes of our heritage

  • Echoes of Our Heritage guides you to explore cultural identity through sound, crafting immersive soundscapes that celebrate local history, connect communities, and bring traditional storytelling to life in powerful, creative ways.

  • Students will develop skills in sound design, cultural research, storytelling, critical listening, creative thinking, audio editing, narrative mapping, reflection, multimedia presentation, and using sound to evoke emotion and communicate heritage.

Wish You Were Here

    A photography-led Live Brief exploring themes of nostalgia, longing, and personal storytelling. Students create a series of images that capture a sense of place, memory, and emotion, developing a visual narrative that reflects both personal experience and wider cultural influences.

  • Students develop skills in visual storytelling and narrative building, alongside composition, framing, and the use of light. They explore creative direction and concept development, as well as editing, image selection, and reflective thinking. These skills connect to a range of creative roles including photographer, art photographer, creative director, content creator, visual storyteller, and editorial photographer.

Beyond the Buy

  • Beyond the Buy challenges fast fashion by exploring slow fashion, mindful consumerism, and sustainability. Students examine how emotions, influencers, and social media shape choices—redefining fashion as thoughtful, ethical, and rooted in long-term environmental care.

  • In Beyond the Buy, you’ll build skills in fashion styling, photography, videography, and content creation. You’ll develop a personal brand, explore ethical fashion communication, and use social media to creatively promote mindful, sustainable fashion choices.

Witherwill

    A creative Live Brief exploring illustration and surface design through the theme of the art of letting go. Students develop a personal visual language, using illustration, pattern, and composition to express ideas, emotions, and narratives, creating work that reflects both individual perspective and contemporary creative practice.

  • Students develop skills in illustration, visual storytelling, and concept development, exploring how ideas can be communicated through image and design. They experiment with composition, pattern, and style, while building confidence in their creative voice and approach. These skills connect to a range of creative roles including illustrator, surface pattern designer, graphic designer, visual artist, creative director, and content creator.

Metamorph

  • MetaMorph is a creative styling project where you plan and shoot a character-inspired fashion photoshoot, documenting your ideas, images, and process to create a fun, professional-looking zine.

  • Students will develop skills in creative direction, styling, photoshoot planning, visual storytelling, moodboarding, photography, documenting their process, and reflecting on their work—building confidence and experience in fashion communication and presentation.
